What is Geocaching?

Geocaching is a high-tech scavenger hunt that uses GPS satellite technology to pinpoint a location where a container with a log and/or trinkets is hidden. Check out this web site or this brochure for more information.

It is lots of fun to go and search for the caches hidden in your area or when you travel. You can do a search on the Geocaching.com site by address or zip code to locate caches in your area.

On the Geocaching.com site, the geocaching community has provided Knowledge Books that have information about topics related to this fun activity.

Another reason to geocache is CITO, which stands for Cache In, Trash Out, so you pick up any trash you find on your way to the cache and clean up the trail on the way.

What are Trackables?

Trackables are kind of like geocaching souvenir game pieces. There are three kinds: Travel Bugs, GeoCoins, and other Trackables. This is the description of these items from Geocaching.com.
"A Travel Bug is a trackable tag attached to an item that geocachers call a "hitchhiker." Geocoins are customizable coins created by individuals or groups of geocachers as a kind of signature item or calling card.
Other Trackable items come in various forms including patches, key rings and more."
